Miles of Hiking into a Volcanic wasteland to capture the fury of Napau Crater. Lava Bubbles, Lava Falls, and Fountains are rare sight to see but here in this image we have all Three!

Lava Rush

The perfect setup timing the moon setting on Mauna Loa in the background and being present at Kilauea’s post eruption glow makes for a glorious moment.

Moon & Fire

Iki Dreamscape

As the day was coming closer to the end I decided to Stop by Iki where the sunset was one of the most beatiful I’d ever seen in the episodic series.

Polaris Protocol

Sometimes the best are the unplanned trips that lead to a 30 min exposure looking toward Mauna Kea. You can see the cars coming down from watching sunset.

The Fire Tempest

Those who were there know how many volnado’s appeared this day and how breath taking it was. There are no words to describe this day only raw feelings.

Pele’s Gauntlet

Well what a moment! My clothes, car, and camera bag were covered in Peles Hair and ash/tephra rocks! This moment shows the fireceness of over 1300ft fountain with a wind switch in the most unsafe direction.

During the Blue hour as the pressure builds for another Episode in Kilauea Crater she displays her moonlit gases combined with red light from the vent to make a stunning purple gradient in nature.

Firelight

As a full moon shimmers across volcanic sulfur to make this image really stand out. There wasnt a person in the park looking for lava so this was a great time for me to discover hidden gems within different times.

Sulfury

Fire Falls

This is the moment the live camera was taken out by a lava storm. For size reference you can see the two lane road in the bottom of the image.

Lava Toss

More lava has made the visuals of lava cones easier to see given the crater is filling up after over a year of episodes at the summit.

River Run

Once the heat shimmer takes over of the rest of the scene this remains one the easily photographer textures with long exposure photography.

Molten Promise

The rain settled past in waves and as i looked down from the overlook I saw this perfect scene of a promise ending on top of my favorite element on earth…….Lava!

Once the pressure builds up and finally pops you get fountains and surreal scenery. These fountains are approximetaly 500ft-800ft High! This long exposure captures the power that can blast in any direction.

Pele’s Breath

Telephoto lenght lens targeting the person enjoying this moment really shows the power and energy the island has to bring. Gaurantee this guy was having the time of his life!

The End

Fire Dust

During the precursor times I focused on getting the glow, Milkyway, and a Comet just ot the right of the core galaxy. Maunaloa Drapes the back of the right side as we transtion from day to night.

Thermal Silk

This has to be some of my favorite lighting to date! This is the view from down devastation side with a beautiful long exposure rendition.

Wind & Fire Dance

Look up! Dont miss the massive Volnado because the lava is so beautiful! This vortex carried a few miles into the distance after this image was taken.

Tears of Fire

Kilauea Overlook showing its perfect ground wrap with the northern fountain. We could really feel the heat from this one as the wind was fairly still peaceful.

Sky Reacher

This was probably the tallest fountain of the series so far reaching approximately 1800ft with the tips reaching quite forcefully into the sky!
